Thought Leadership

I strive to be a thought leader in my professional field. I teach university courses and regularly speak and publish on international arbitration topics.

I am an Adjunct Professor at McGill University, where I teach “Strategy and Advocacy in International Arbitration” .

My recent conference talks include speaking at Harvard Law School, American Society of International Law (ASIL) – International Law Weekend at Fordham Law School, Cambridge Arbitration Days, Paris Arbitration Week, Vienna Arbitration Days, Kiev Arbitration Days, Zagreb Arbitration Days, and giving a keynote speech at Google in London about how my experience as a Bosnian refugee informed my outlook and my career as an international disputes lawyer.

I have published on international disputes topics in leading journals such as ICSID Review and Oxford Journal of Int’l Arbitration. My article (co-authored with Lucy Greenwood and Michael McIlwrath) on how to match arbitrators with party expectations was shortlisted for the Global Arbitration Review (GAR)’s Best Innovation Award (2017).

I am a promoter of equality and diversity in international arbitration. I am a founding Co-Chair of “Mute Off Thursdays”, which was shortlisted for the GAR Best Innovation Award (2021) and won the GAR Pledge Award for the Best Diversity Initiative (2021). I co-led the initiative to create the Compendium of Unicorns - A Global Guide to Women Arbitrators (available here).

I seek to actively contribute to the development of the international arbitration field. I am a member of the VIAC Advisory Board and Tech Committee, LCIA Users’ Council, CPR Y-ADR Steering Committee, ICDR Y&I Board, ICC Working Group for LVD and IBA Arbitration Committee.

I co-chaired the IBA Arbitration Committee’s Working Group on Site Visit Model Protocol, which published the Site Visit Model Protocol for Mining, Energy and Construction Arbitrations. I currently Co-Chair the IBA Arbitration & Insolvency Committee.
